22 April 2026 — GreenScale marks Earth Day with the launch of its twelve sustainability commitments, reinforcing its long-standing approach to sustainable digital infrastructure development.
Sustainability has been embedded in GreenScale’s operations since its launch in November 2024. These commitments build on the principles that have guided the business from the outset—designing, building, and operating data centres in a way that positively contributes to energy ecosystems and local communities.
This next step sets clear targets, translating GreenScale’s sustainability vision into clear, measurable action, focusing on where it can drive the most meaningful impact.
Starting today, GreenScale will introduce one commitment each week over the next twelve weeks, exploring what each commitment means in practice, why it matters, and how progress will be tracked.
The commitments are structured across two core pillars:
- Green Infrastructure — sustainable infrastructure development including investing in renewable energy, reducing embodied carbon, minimising water use, and contributing positively to local energy grids.
- Scale for Good — partnering with local communities, the value chain, and customers to support sustainable growth.
Each commitment has been informed by a robust materiality assessment aligned with leading frameworks including European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), and prioritised based on its potential to drive meaningful impact. Several commitments go beyond standard industry practices, reflecting GreenScale’s ambition to help raise the bar across the data centre sector.
“We are proud to launch our twelve sustainability commitments, focusing on where we can make the biggest positive impact,” said Anna Dowson, Senior Director of Sustainability at GreenScale. “As the data centre industry grows rapidly, so does our opportunity and responsibility to drive meaningful change. With clear targets and transparent tracking, we’ll measure our progress and hold ourselves accountable every step of the way.”
GreenScale extends its thanks to our strategic partners Salute for their support in developing these commitments and helping shape a framework that is both ambitious and actionable.
The first sustainability commitment is now live, with further announcements to follow weekly.
